Frequently asked questions
Buying a caravan is a big decision. Here are the questions we hear most.
How much does a new caravan cost in Australia?
Prices vary significantly with the model, size and included features, typically ranging from $30,000 to over $100,000. See our stock page for current prices on every van.
What accessories and upgrades are recommended for caravans?
Most owners focus on power: solar panels, lithium battery systems, inverters and upgraded charging setups. Popular additions also include enhanced safety features, extra storage and more comfortable seating.
New or used?
Decide whether you are happy with a used caravan or prefer a new model. Pre-owned vans have a price advantage and often come with the little extras you need, but finding the exact one that suits you can be harder. Because caravans hold their value well, used vans are often not much cheaper than buying new.
Where are you going?
Think about where you would like to visit and stay. If you love the coast, there are plenty of caravan parks and camping spots reached easily on bitumen roads with good facilities. If you would rather get away from the crowds and explore the outback, you will need a caravan with off-road capability, more water storage and bigger battery and solar systems.
Who is coming?
Make sure you can sleep everybody who wants to come. Are you travelling with a partner, or taking children or friends? There are layouts that cater for extra people. Use the 'Family' filter on our stock page to see vans that sleep three or more.
What's the difference between off-road and on-road caravans?
Off-road caravans are designed for rugged terrain, with heavy-duty chassis, higher ground clearance and off-grid power like solar panels and lithium batteries, ideal for remote adventures. On-road caravans are lighter, more affordable and suited to sealed roads and powered sites, with standard suspension and lower clearance: perfect for relaxed highway touring and caravan parks.
What's included when I tow away?
Every van leaves with a current QLD roadworthy and gas certificate, registration, a full pre-delivery inspection, a full detail and a customer handover so you know how everything works.
Can I see the vans in person?
Yes. All our stock is displayed in our indoor showroom at 41 Cook Court, North Lakes. Drop in during opening hours or call us on (07) 3481 2182 to book a time.
Where is Revolution Caravans located?
Our indoor showroom is at 41 Cook Court, North Lakes QLD 4509, in Brisbane's north. It's an easy drive from Brisbane, Redcliffe, Caboolture and the Sunshine Coast.
What are your opening hours?
Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 4:30pm, Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm and Saturday 9:00am to 1:00pm. We're closed on Sundays and public holidays.
What caravan brands does Revolution Caravans sell?
We're a Highclere Caravans dealer. Our stock covers the Highclere Dynasty, Unleashed, Grand Explorer, Highcalibre and Celebration RV ranges, from compact couples vans to flagship off-roaders, plus selected used caravans.
Do you sell used caravans?
Yes, when we have them. Quality pre-owned caravans sell quickly, so call us on (07) 3481 2182 to ask what's coming in. Used vans come with the same tow-away inclusions: roadworthy, gas certificate, registration, pre-delivery inspection, detail and handover.
What do Tare, ATM, ball weight and payload mean?
Tare is the weight of the empty caravan. ATM (Aggregate Trailer Mass) is the maximum the caravan can legally weigh when fully loaded. Ball weight is how much of that weight presses down on your tow ball. Payload is ATM minus Tare: how much water, gear and food you can carry. We list all four on every caravan page.
How do I know if my car can tow a caravan?
Your vehicle's braked towing capacity must be at least the caravan's ATM, and its maximum tow ball download must be at least the caravan's ball weight. Also check your vehicle's GCM (gross combination mass). Use the 'Max ATM' filter on our stock page to see vans that suit your vehicle, and ask our team to check the numbers with you.
Which caravan is best for a family?
Look for a layout that sleeps three or more, usually with bunks or a convertible dinette, plus enough payload for everyone's gear. Use the 'Family' filter on our stock page to see every van that sleeps three or more.
